Two Poems | Tolu’ A. Akinyemi

Bewildered

A woman lies in my bed, naked.

I am standing like a rock—immovable.

Fleeting fantasies have become

Sour cravings.

My mind is running figures,

Balancing the books.

My brain has reached hasty conclusions

In a flurry of blurred, blurry lines.

A black bra,

Red panties —

Bewildered woman

And an eccentric poet.

Keep Your Minors

Keep your minors off the shelf.

Paedophiles are masquerading on the world-wide web.

Keep your minors away from predators.

Abusers wreak irreparable havoc.

Keep your minors off the radar.

Scavengers are on the loose on dating apps.

Keep your minors on a leash,

Shielded from wild dogs prowling.

Keep your minors behind closed doors

To protect them from this broken society.
